Oh and

7 May

Rainy days make me think of The Waste Land. What the thunder said, anyone?

After the torchlight red on sweaty faces
After the frosty silence in the gardens
After the agony in stony places
The shouting and the crying
Prison and palace and reverberation
Of thunder of spring over distant mountains
He who was living is now dead
We who were living are now dying
With a little patience

See here for audio. Brilliant and eerie on a rainy day. You’d never know he was from St. Louis.

rain, stay?

There is something so soothing about rain.

Even though it means that there is no sun out. And that I get very wet when I am out in it. The cleansing, calming qualities more than compensate. I was doing work (oh and re: work, remember when I said I had an idea for the philo paper? Shot down by one d sido) sitting by the steps, when it started to drizzle. To prevent computer damage, I moved towards the music library in Dodge Hall, only to realize that fortunately, a tent had been augmented right outside. So now I am siting peacefully outside the School of the Arts, under a tent, with rain clapping thunderously on its white roof. The drizzle has turned into full-on torrential downpour, with a magical smell and a pattering sound that silences all distractions.

Somehow, I think this may bring me focus. Maybe I’m just optimistic.

Update, 3 p.m. Now it’s just kind of scary. Waiting for this tent to blow away, stakes ripped from the ground. But not wanting to go into the storm? Ahhhh.

That can’t be so good. Because my umbrella is gone, in a place where I probably shouldn’t retrieve it from so i will be very, very wet. Drenched for this Spec web meeting, in fact.

And as you can tell by the header, I did my fair share of procrastinating in the office last night, so that does not bode well for the academic future of the week. Uh oh. Well, at least I haven’t whipped out the coloring books yet!
